Light of the world is based on the hit Television series created by Constance M.Burger. Light of the world is an original novel that was written by: Scott Ciencin. Light of the world is about three witches named Phoebe, Paige and Piper who taught that they could escape the witch life for once while attending their childhood’s friend Lyssa’s wedding. Lyssa asked both sisters to be bridesmaids at her wedding in Serenity Cove's. Serenity Cove's is a beautiful old lighthouse, which rumor says it is haunted by the vengeful spirit of the lighthouse keeper who lost his true love at sea one hundred years ago. As a result of those rumors Piper and Phoebe ended up disregarding the fact that her friend and her fiancée might be in great danger. As the big day approaches Lyssa’s fiancé started acting strange. His strange behavior led him to his obsession over Lyssa’s necklace. Lyssa’s necklace was known as the light of the world. The light of the world was a powerful ornament that the lighthouse keeper was going to use to turn the world evil. Can the charmed ones saved Lyssa’s fiancé before it’s too late? The predominant symbols of the novel 1) love, pain and soul; 2) Light, liberating, and ice; 3) Spell and chain; 4) sign and lighthouse.

This novel has a lot of symbolisms that help convey its meaning. According to the dictionary the word “love” is described as a profound, tender, passionate affection for another person. However, love means hatred, betrayal, and vengeance for the lighthouse keeper. According to the dictionary Pain is a physical symptom. It is ironic that “ancient histories of pain” refers to an individual’s emotional pain instead of physical injury. Phoebe felt her body was being torn apart from her soul emotionally while she was held prisoner in a cave. The soul is a spirit that intertwines with the body and mind as one. Therefore, soul means that the Lighthouse keeper took over James body to continue his road of destruction. As the result of the lighthouse keeper gaining control over James’s body, he held Phoebe’s magicalcaptive causing her power to be drained. This eventually led to the keeper transforming his dead fiancé into a Phoebe image causing the two Hallowell sisters to overlook that their sister Phoebe isn’t really Phoebe.
According to the dictionary of symbolism light stands for intelligence, goodness, and the ultimate reality. Light represents the sun through darkness. Therefore, “Love light” stands for deep feelings a certain individual has towards that special someone that can’t overshadow the lighthouse keeper pain. The light house keeper was so revengeful that he overlooked the most important factor out of his evil plan. He ended up using his most precious diamond known as his dead fiancé, to expunge all feelings form the world. The imposture stated that she was intrigued by the kind of fiery love and excitement that sun through Lyssa; however, she felt torn between her obligation towards her people and her feelings for the keeper.
Liberating means to free the mind and accept new ideas. Therefore, liberating means the keeper returning James’s body. According to the dictionary ice is defined as any substance that resembles frozen water. In this case ice represents demons who wanted to destroy Piper and Paige because they refuse to compromise. While the wedding was taking place the ice sculpture transformed into a cache of ice which pointed danger right at Phoebe. This eventually led to the ice sculpture exploding and causing a big commotion from the closet to the fine spray of water and ice that streaked out harmlessly from the table. According to the dictionary “spell” is defined as a practice of ideas based on occultism that certain individual uses to obtain their true desire. In this case, Piper, Paige and Phoebe recited a spell to vanquish the demons from the underworld. According to the dictionary a chain is a data structure that consists of a variable. In this case, the keeper who appeared to be in James’s body uses the chain on Phoebe to drain all of her magical abilities.

The basic tone of this novel are: magical, mysterious and creepiness. The sprinkler overhead flared to life causing the clear water to turn into a dark diet soda that eventually ruined Phoebe’s hair. This indicates the magical elements that the charmed ones encounter throughout their journey. Then the same sprinklers changed the diet freezing soda to hot scalding tea causing Paige to orb out of danger: referring to the creepiness that Paige, Phoebe, and Piper has to faced as witches in order to save an innocent soul. Meanwhile, Jenna drops down into her chair because she saw water gathering on the ceiling dripping down dangerously along her light fixtures. All of a sudden the room started to turn dark causing the light to flicker and the wind to circle around her without any witness providing the mysteries that three witches had to endure in order to save James’s soul from the twisted Lighthouse keeper.
I can interpret that this novel is about how the power, love which can be an endless battle that can either destroy a certain individual or overpower that certain individual’s evilness. The lighthouse was so consumed with hatred that he repressed all his pain over the lost of his dead’s fiancé that he forgot how to love or embrace the love his dead fiancé gave him and showed him every single day before her death. This confirms that the lighthouse keeper became a monster without a soul. No soul meant no room for remorse, or regrets for using his dead fiancé to destroy every human in the world. I can confirm how that this novel shows a subjective love. A subjective love can be defined as the lighthouse keeper magically forming his dead loving fiancé into a witch in order to wipe out all human beings, knowing that she was overpowered by her love from him. As a result of that power: subjective love ended up in chaos. Instead, Lyssa’s love for James regardless of expectations won the battle because they were destined to be together.
