Who’s Scott Ciencin? Scott Ciencin is an American author who was born in 1962. Scott writes adult and children fiction. He did a variety of works which includes comic books. Among his works he has written novels for the Dungeon and Dragons role playing game campaign settings. Those novels include the Nightmare Clubs, Godzilla, Gen, Buffy Verse, and Charmed. Scott wrote three novels based on the hit T.V. In the show Charmed there are: Luck be a Lady, High Spirits, and Light of the World. Among his long line of works he has created programs for scholastic books, designed trading cards, and directed audio programs. Scott currently lives in Sarasota, Florida where he first worked as a writer, producer, and director.
Light of the world is based on the hit Television series created by Constance M.Burger. Light of the world is an original novel that was written by: Scott Ciencin. Light of the world is about three witches named Phoebe, Paige and Piper who taught that they could escape the witch life for once while attending their childhood’s friend Lyssa’s wedding. Lyssa asked both sisters to be bridesmaids at her wedding in Serenity Cove's. Serenity Cove's is a beautiful old lighthouse, which rumor says it is haunted by the vengeful spirit of the lighthouse keeper who lost his true love at sea one hundred years ago. As a result of those rumors Piper and Phoebe ended up disregarding the fact that her friend and her fiancée might be in great danger. As the big day approaches Lyssa’s fiancé started acting strange. His strange behavior led him to his obsession over Lyssa’s necklace. Lyssa’s necklace was known as the light of the world. The light of the world was a powerful ornament that the lighthouse keeper was going to use to turn the world evil. Can the charmed ones saved Lyssa’s fiancé before it’s too late? The predominant symbols of the novel 1) love, pain and soul; 2) Light, liberating, and ice; 3) Spell and chain; 4) sign and lighthouse.

This novel has a lot of symbolisms that help convey its meaning. According to the dictionary the word “love” is described as a profound, tender, passionate affection for another person. However, love means hatred, betrayal, and vengeance for the lighthouse keeper. According to the dictionary Pain is a physical symptom. It is ironic that “ancient histories of pain” refers to an individual’s emotional pain instead of physical injury. Phoebe felt her body was being torn apart from her soul emotionally while she was held prisoner in a cave. The soul is a spirit that intertwines with the body and mind as one. Therefore, soul means that the Lighthouse keeper took over James body to continue his road of destruction. As the result of the lighthouse keeper gaining control over James’s body, he held Phoebe’s magicalcaptive causing her power to be drained. This eventually led to the keeper transforming his dead fiancé into a Phoebe image causing the two Hallowell sisters to overlook that their sister Phoebe isn’t really Phoebe.
According to the dictionary of symbolism light stands for intelligence, goodness, and the ultimate reality. Light represents the sun through darkness. Therefore, “Love light” stands for deep feelings a certain individual has towards that special someone that can’t overshadow the lighthouse keeper pain. The light house keeper was so revengeful that he overlooked the most important factor out of his evil plan. He ended up using his most precious diamond known as his dead fiancé, to expunge all feelings form the world. The imposture stated that she was intrigued by the kind of fiery love and excitement that sun through Lyssa; however, she felt torn between her obligation towards her people and her feelings for the keeper.
Liberating means to free the mind and accept new ideas. Therefore, liberating means the keeper returning James’s body. According to the dictionary ice is defined as any substance that resembles frozen water. In this case ice represents demons who wanted to destroy Piper and Paige because they refuse to compromise. While the wedding was taking place the ice sculpture transformed into a cache of ice which pointed danger right at Phoebe. This eventually led to the ice sculpture exploding and causing a big commotion from the closet to the fine spray of water and ice that streaked out harmlessly from the table. According to the dictionary “spell” is defined as a practice of ideas based on occultism that certain individual uses to obtain their true desire. In this case, Piper, Paige and Phoebe recited a spell to vanquish the demons from the underworld. According to the dictionary a chain is a data structure that consists of a variable. In this case, the keeper who appeared to be in James’s body uses the chain on Phoebe to drain all of her magical abilities.

The basic tone of this novel are: magical, mysterious and creepiness. The sprinkler overhead flared to life causing the clear water to turn into a dark diet soda that eventually ruined Phoebe’s hair. This indicates the magical elements that the charmed ones encounter throughout their journey. Then the same sprinklers changed the diet freezing soda to hot scalding tea causing Paige to orb out of danger: referring to the creepiness that Paige, Phoebe, and Piper has to faced as witches in order to save an innocent soul. Meanwhile, Jenna drops down into her chair because she saw water gathering on the ceiling dripping down dangerously along her light fixtures. All of a sudden the room started to turn dark causing the light to flicker and the wind to circle around her without any witness providing the mysteries that three witches had to endure in order to save James’s soul from the twisted Lighthouse keeper.
I can interpret that this novel is about how the power, love which can be an endless battle that can either destroy a certain individual or overpower that certain individual’s evilness. The lighthouse was so consumed with hatred that he repressed all his pain over the lost of his dead’s fiancé that he forgot how to love or embrace the love his dead fiancé gave him and showed him every single day before her death. This confirms that the lighthouse keeper became a monster without a soul. No soul meant no room for remorse, or regrets for using his dead fiancé to destroy every human in the world. I can confirm how that this novel shows a subjective love. A subjective love can be defined as the lighthouse keeper magically forming his dead loving fiancé into a witch in order to wipe out all human beings, knowing that she was overpowered by her love from him. As a result of that power: subjective love ended up in chaos. Instead, Lyssa’s love for James regardless of expectations won the battle because they were destined to be together.

blog 14 what I need to improve on

what i need to work on using more symbols that I can intertwine into symbolic actions from the story. I also need to expand on certain parts of the story that I have mentioned about the story in order to get to the next level. I should make sure that I don't mixed symbolism with interpretation at the need of my story. one last things, I think that going to help my story improve is that I should categorizes the symbols so that it can flow smoothly with the symbolic actions.

This indicate creepiness. phoebe admitting thewater creatures must be acting in their own there may be no ghost indicatees creeepiness and mystery.

I haven't finish reading the book. however so far light of the world is very interesting. There's are a lot of creepy events that are happening in this novel so far.The charmed ones are driving to northern California coastal village of serenity cove, where they would join the wedding party of their childhood friend Lyssa Ainsley. Durring their road trips Piper ended up having cramps in her thighs.I noticed that's a warming signs for piper to go home, even though she didn't see it that way. another warming signs was they were danger rock slide signs in the sides of the Moutain and also a young man warned the three witches to stay away from serenity cove. The young man believed that thelighthouse keeper will destroyed anyone who get in is way from celebrating one hundred years of mourning his one true love.
upon on their arrival the three witches were set in a few trials before they actually saw Lyssa. They ended up going to a weird shop, in which Phoebe met the storyteller that was telling 2 to 3 year old youngsters about the light house keeper. The author of the book Serenity Cove Lighthouse Mystery Jenna Marsten stated that the lighthouse keeper wasn't always evil. the keeper had nothing butl ove in his heat for his dead fiance trudy. Trudy departed on a sailing ship leaving her fiance behing with the thought she would have return to marry the keeper. All of sudden the sky split as a savage tore acrsso heaven. thuder shook the walls of the lighhouse ,and rain pelted the glass like daggers hurled form the sky. His fear of losing his precious love Trudy on a fragile sailing ship causes to grow in obssession looking for her. He search for her high and low until he saw her terrible ships crashing into pieces.

over the past few weeks, I have learned that a T.V. Show, a film and a movie wouldn't be what they are today if the main characters didn't go through the main stages of their journey before they reach their final destination. I learned that a hero have to struggle internally and externally in order for them to reach their final destination. According to Campbell every individual have their own demons that they most overcome. In order to overcome those demons we have to look within ourselves internally to try to find the roots of our problems. The T.V. show Touched by angel indicated that Doris needed help overcoming her struggles to love herself, and letting go of what she taught was pure love. I never know that a T.V. Show can be so meaningful in terms of heroes battling through their personal obstacles,in order to be free of those problems. Instead I just Thought T.V. show was just there for entertainment purposes.
In conclusions life is like a t.v. show , in which constant struggles presents itself for each individual with different circumstances. However, we must find the roots of the problem whether it's internally or externally in order to crossed a new line of this amazing journey.

Touched By an Angel is an American Christian drama series that premiered on CBS on September 21, 1994 which aired for 211 episodes and 9 seasons until its conclusion on April 27, 2003. Touched by an Angel was created by John Masius and was produced by Martha Williamson. The series have three main stars namely: Roma Downey, Della Reese, and John Dye. Roma Downey is known as Monica, an angel caseworker, Della Reese is known as the brutally honest and sincere angel who helped single individuals crossed tough roads in their lives and John Dye is known as Andrew the angel of death who helped Monica transformed from being a rookie caseworker to being promoted has a supervisor herself. Most of the episodes from the series were produced in Salt Lake City. It is basically about three angels who work with a group of people or single individuals where they face difficult obstacles in their lives such as crossing rough roads and making tough decisions. The fourth season was very intense and heartwarming. Tess was an ordinary angel who thought that her only case was to pass her road test in order to get a driving license. Neither did she know that her driving teacher was a troubled woman named Doris, who believe that a dead guy named Harry was the only one who truly loves and care for her. This shows that Doris’s identity was lost without Harry’s remains. As a result of those beliefs, Doris went to a church and stole Harry’s ashes, disregarding Harry’s wife, Stella feelings. This confirms that Tess was called to save Doris from herself physically, emotionally, and mentally. Doris was physically hurting by refusing to accept that Harry’s ashes didn’t belong to her. This eventually destroyed her mental state because she thought that she was unworthy and incapable of loving herself. As a result of that she had low self-esteem.
Touched by angel has many symbols such as: angels, ashes, dead, hatred, and love. Tess had to drive the troubled woman to the church without knowing Doris was going to steal Harry’s ashes. This was Tess first threshold because she wasn’t aware that her driving teacher was emotionally and physically obsessed with a dead man. This episode has a lot of symbols that help convey its message. The word “Angel” is defined as an act of kindness by Dungeon creatures that intermediate from Heaven to Earth. According to the dictionary of symbolisms, Angels are immaterial beings made of pure spirit where man consist of a “Body and Soul” (Julien 15). Angels are known as the messengers of God that travels from Heaven to Earth. Tess, Monica, and Andrew are known as the angels of protection. Therefore, Love is described as profound, tender, and passionate for another person. However, love for Doris means unworthy, unwanted, unsecured, pain, lost for oneself, and destruction. According to the dictionary ashes is defined as a state in which a human being is left after he’s no longer alive. This confirms that Harry was dust carry in a cup throughout Doris Journey of finding herself. Therefore, ashes represent the end of her affair with Harry and the rebirth of new life for Harry with a greater power.
Tess second called was she and Doris went to a bar that Harry used to go to every Saturday before he died. While sitting down Tess told Doris that she doesn’t have much time and that she should go use the most powerful instrument God Gave her, which was singing. At first she refused because she believed that she couldn’t do anything without Harry. As a result of her low self-esteem, she managed to convince her that she was the only one damaging herself. This eventually caused Doris to leave the bar with such frustration. While, she was standing outside Stella pull a gun on Doris demanding her to return Harry’s ashes to her. Doris refuses then Tess came after Doris and rescued her from getting killed by Harry’s Wife Stella. She convinced Stella by telling her if she killed her former lover it wouldn’t bring Harry back life. This shows when a certain individual loses a love one, their state of mind becomes unstable.
Doris was given three tests during her road trip with Tess. One of her road test was she told Tess to keep driving after she had stolen Harry’s ashes. As a result of that Tess told her how stealing someone else’s dead husband was wrong, and that she should return Harry’s ashes to the proper owner. Doris refused because she was afraid of letting go of the only person who she believed cared for her. She told Tess to keep on driving without any regrets. This shows how Doris failed her first test because she was so consumed by the Greed of wanting someone else to love her when she didn’t even love herself. Her second test was when she went to the bar that her former lover used to go to every Saturday before he died. Tess convinces her to sing because she was given a powerful gift by God and she shouldn’t waste it. As a result of that Doris started singing without the presence of Harry. I can interpret that Doris started to gain her own identity, and gain her self-esteem rapidly. She sang a whole song with love and confidence; however she ended up sabotaging herself by telling Tess that Harry was everything to her and she was nothing without him. I can declare that Doris failed her second test by not embracing the idea of her singing which made a difference in certain individual’s lives. Doris ended up passing her final test with the help of Tess. While standing in the parking lot, Stella pulled a gun demanding her former’s husband ashes back. This shows that Stella has reached her breaking point because she was overwhelmed with grief. While Stella hands shake, Doris eyes light up with regrets, sorrow, and pain. As a result of that Tess convinces her it was about time that she started living her own life by letting Harry start his new life.
Tess was the meeting Goddess for Doris because throughout their road trip she made Doris realize and see her potentials. The temptress was the disbeliever inside of Doris who taught she was unworthy of being love by God. Throughout this road trip Doris transformed from being greedy to selfish mistress with a low self-esteem to this confident human being who believe she is worthy of love. Doris acknowledges that she had done Stella wrong by having an affair with her husband Harry. Although at the beginning of her journey she thought she was the only one who truly loves him the most in this world, on the other hand at the end of her journey she realizes that the only person who truly loves Harry unconditionally regardless of his mistake is God. I can interpret that Doris has learned that an individual have to love themselves first in order to be love by someone else in return.

PhenomPretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

According to Maya Angelou every female can be a woman if they have gorgeous physical apperance, however to be an exceptional woman you must have a beautiful inner soul that can't be seen but it shown through your behaviors and actions towards other individuals. she implied that a woman with a beeautiful physical appereance doesn't not mean that she's qualified to be an ammazing woman. The poet is claiming that physical appearance doesn't determined the type of person you are as a whole, instead physical appearance creates a mystery and leaves others to questions who you are as individual.I can interpret that Maya confirmed that when a woman is secure about who she is in the inside her physical appereance becomes one lost element that don't really matter. I conclude that a woman becomes an exceptional woman when she really knowns her inner soul and past the stage of insecurity, and reaches the stage of maturity.

One films and Television show I find fascinated and unexplainable is Touched By Angel the fourth season. Touched by An Angel is about three Angels who were sent on Earth By God to guide troubled individuals with their life obstacles. Two people that I find fascinating are : Tess and Andrew. Tess and Andrew are known as the Angels of death and caseworker.Tess had to help a troubled woman Dorris who stoles a guy named Harry ashes.Dorris strongly believe that Harry was the love of her life and she was a nobody without him. As a result of her obsession with him she carry him with her throughout her trip with Tess. Dorris was convince she was the only one who loved Harry the most. Tess told her the only person who loved Harry was God. God Symbolizes the greatest power of love. she said God love Harry unconditional no matter how wrong he was for cheating on his wife Stella.
The symbols that defined the fourth season are:

1)God represents the power of love and forgiveness.
2)ashes represent the escape of life and the release of death.
3) ashes being release into the air represent freedom.
4)ashes being scattered into different direction symbolizes the release of Harry Body and Soul into heaven.
5)Andrew the Angel of death appearing with fire in his back symbolizes how the power of God works in mysterious ways.

Sample: “Touched By an Angel” by Maya Angelou
We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

Maya Angelou was born in St.Louis Missouri as Marguerite Annie Johnson on April 4, 1928. At the age of 3 years old she and her younger brother was sent to live with her grandmother on a small town called Stamps in Arkansas. Maya Angelou experienced racial discrimination in stamps, however she has overcome racial discrimination by writing poetry that explained the different type of emotions she was feeling at that moment in time. Throughout her career Maya Angelou worked with many famous people such as: Martin Luther King J.R, Malcolm X and James Baldwin. Maya was the first African American to be filmed, and be nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. She wrote a book called “I know why the caged Birds Sings. This book describes what she had to endure in order to survive in a society that was full of racism, while raising her son as a single mother. She wrote a lot of poems such as: I still Rise, Phenomenal woman, Equality, and Touched by an angel.“Touched by an angel” was written in 1985“Maya Angelou”.Wikipedia.org. Web 18 .Apr.2010http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_angelou

The poem is composed of three stanzas. The first stanza contains six lines, the second stanza contains seven lines and the last stanzas contain eight lines. The poem is located on the left margin on the page.

“Touched by an Angel” describes the power of love. Stanza one state how we are absent form joy because “we lived coiled in shells of loneliness” (line 3). “When love leaves its holy temple and comes to our sight” (line 4-5). Love frees us into life. Stanza two describes how love is a train of overpowering emotions that brings back old memories of Joy, and erases past pain (line 9-10). However, if we are fearless, love strikes away the chains of fear from our body and mind. Stanza three is about how love freed us from lack of confidence, and with strong emotions come light. If we dare to be courageous and take chances, we eventually see how love can cost all we are (line 17-18). However, it is only love that can liberate us.

The predominant symbols of this poem seem to be 1) Angel, love Holy temple and life; 2) Train, pain, bold and souls; (3) dare and cost; 4) light and liberating.

This poem has lot of symbolisms that help convey its message. The word “Angel” is defined as an act of kindness by Dungeon creatures that intermediate from Heaven and Earth. According to the dictionary of symbolisms, Angels are immaterial beings made of pure spirit where man consist of a “body and soul” (Julien 15). Angels are known as the messenger of God that travel from Heaven and Earth. Angels is symbolic for protection, and nature. Therefore, Love is describes as a profound, tender, passionate affection for another person. However,“love can cost all we are” means betrayal, pain, lost of oneself, and destruction. Holy temple is defined as a church where every individual goes to worship God. The word “Holy” means pure and divine. According to the dictionary Pain is a physical symptom. It is ironic that “ancient histories of pain” refers to an individual’s emotional pain instead of physical injury. The soul is a spirit that intertwines with the body and mind as one. According to the dictionary of symbolism light stands for intelligence, goodness, and the ultimate reality. Light represents the sun through darkness. Therefore, “Loves light” stands for deep feelings a certain individual has toward that special someone that overshadows any pain. Liberating means to free the mind and accept new ideas. “Love can set us free” symbolizes an escape from sorrow, depression, and pain.

The basic tone of the poem is very passionate and heartfelt. The repetition of the word “love” in every stanzas indicates that this poems is very passionate. Therefore, “Love strikes away the chain of fears from our souls” shows how love can erases an individual sorrows, and pain physically, emotionally, and mentally. The lines “live coiled in shells of loneliness until love leaves its high holy temple and comes into our sight to liberate us into life” indicates relief and happiness.

I can interpret that “Touched by an Angel” is about how love can be fulfilling and rewarding for every individual, however love is a risk that can cause heartbreaks and depression to a certain individual once they fell in love. Depression and heartbreaks can lead to destructions. Maya states how “we live in shells of coiled/until love lived its high Holy temple” (line3-4). This enforces how love comes from our creator God, and he creates the images of love in all of us. The word “holy” emphasizes how love is pure and powerful just like god. I can interpret that when two people falls in love their love is pure because their love is built on a deeper foundation which shows Angelou that it can’t be seen but are felt. Angelou shows the fulfillment of love by describing how a certain individual would feel when strong emotions take over. She stated when “love arrives/and in its train come ecstasies/old memories of pleasures/ancient histories of pain” (lines 7-9) confirms when two people are in love their emotions of pain, sorrow, and depression are over powered by happiness through their minds and body. The word “bold” (line 11) implies how strong emotions can cause certain human beings to be fearless by taking away all the doubts they might have.
Angelou stated that “love costs all we are” (line 18) describing the consequences of risking your heart for love by implying that if a certain individual fell in love and gets hurt their heart will be shredded into a million pieces causing them to lose not only their identity but also leading them into a path to becoming destructive. However, those strong emotions are the only escape that can take all the grief and drama away from us through the light of happiness

blog 5 essay 3 preview

Well based on what I read I understand that I Have to choose a poem or a song that I can analyze based on tones, rhythms and symbols. However there's two things about this essay that feel very different to me. I'm going to have to find background information in other to write a little biography on the poet or song writer of my choice. This eventually will led me to describing the type of rhythms that's being used in each stanza. Furthermore, I'm very happy to know that I could write about any poems or song that I feel passionate about instead of being supernatural. ''Touched by an Angel'' by:Maya Angelou is a very powerful and emotional poem.I choose to write about this poem because the poet gives you a fulfilling perspective on love.

I basically just have a questions regarding the essay.

Do I have to restate the poem I choose the same exact way it was done in the sample paper?

blog 4

I Can say that I learned a lot in the past few weeks. I never even though that English102 could be so much fun. A few weeks ago I didn't know what I can do with a blog expect comment on certain individuals different issues. I find out that you can post your essay, read other students essay to see the different views on how a certain individual defined a poem. I was really amused by the instant feed back from other students and tutors on ways I can improve my essay. I really like this class because I get to read, and explore what I consider to be supernatural and what I define supernatural to be. One my favorite poem is" original sin". This poem is my favorite poem because to me this poem show the negative side effects of holding on to a guilt and pain can lead lead to destruction.

I would like to know if we are going to take our midterm and final online also. I Think this is a great English 102 because not only we get to improved our writing skills , we also get to expand on our keyboarding skills, and computer skills. In my book that's really fantastic. I define a great writer as being someone who takes all the negative and positive criticism as a stepping stone to becoming a good writer. This is going to be a very interesting semester.

“Ocean Heal Me” by Susan Beacon is a poem written to express a troubled woman who has lost her faith, courage, confidence, and strength over the loss of her own pain. She is basically asking the ocean who she feels is a spiritual connection to cure her sorrows. This poem is filled with spiritual elements, colors, and emotions to make the reader comprehend its meaning to the full effect. Beacon uses personification to portray the ocean as being power that human beings who can’t hurt anyone but provides the troubled woman with a new life. Furthermore, the poem emphasizes colors to describe what the troubled woman desperately wants to have in her new heart, body, mind, and soul. Beacon also uses repetition to further emphasize on the power of the ocean.

What is personification? Personification is giving human traits to a non-living object. Personification stresses the meaning of the poem. This tool is used to give spiritual powers and courage to phrases, emphasizing on what the troubled woman would want to obtain in order to be free of her pains. In other words the narrator uses the ocean to make a connection between describing what the troubled woman desires are even though she is swallowing in her own pain by looking for a new soul. The narrator states “Ocean Heal my wounds/ let your waves curl” (lines 2-3) enforces how the troubled woman who is enclosed in her own sadness is searching for someone to cure her wounds. The word “ocean” symbolizes how the woman with a broken spirit is referring to God as the greater power for a new path to life. The words “heal me” represents how her heart has been shredded into millions of pieces and she is desperately trying to repair the damage that has been done. It also represents the hard road ahead that she has to endure in order to find herself again.

In addition, Beacon states “ocean renew with your power/as unceasingly you roll” (lines 6-7) emphasizes not only how the ocean is giving human qualities as being the most powerful just like God. The word “power” means strength, courage, confidence, and the rebirth of a new soul. This can relate to line 13-15 “Ocean disperse my tears/as they flow in you/I cleanse my soul.” The phrases “disperse my tears” shows how vulnerable, helpless, and lost the troubled woman really is. I can interpret that she felt helpless because she was in so much pain emotionally that she has became numb. Numbness leads to the troubled woman feeling vulnerable which causes her to have an emotional breakdown and asking God, the greater power for direction.

Another element that was used in the poem is repetition. This device is used to give spiritual power and pain to emphasize on what the woman want for her new soul. One repetition that has a significant impact on the poem was where the narrator states “ocean let me grow in your depths/ color me vibrant blue, coral, green/clear = revalitalized/ocean be my friend /hold me flowing in your currents” (line14-21). She is basically implying how the troubled woman is asking the ocean to whom she refers to as God to give her the qualities she desperately required to have a new soul. The ocean symbolizes purity because the narrator portrayed the element as being God. In other words God is the savior of all things and he is not a sinner.

The narrator emphasizes in the colors to describe the qualities the troubled woman want for a new soul. The color blue represents calamity; however in this poem the color blue means that the woman wants to be important, and confident. Deep pink symbolizes gratitude and appreciation. The narrator is basically saying that the woman really wants someone to love her and cherish her through her pains. The color red represents evil, the blood of sorrow that split her heart into different directions. The narrator uses the color green to emphasize on what the woman wants and that’s a new life without any heartbreaks.

In conclusions, the connection between personification and repetition portrays how the troubled woman demands for a new soul. These elements work effectively together to express the woman’s feelings, and also her desire for a new soul. The tone expresses the spiritual connection between God and her new desires for a new soul. This poem taught me that each individual have lost themselves at one point in their life, and we all had to go through some rough waters to figure out that we can’t just find ourselves without any help from God.

Poem: "Ocean Heal Me" by Susan Beacon

It took me a while to figure out what type of supernatural poem I wanted to do. Then I realize what can be more supernatural than holy water. I choose Holy water because I believe that holy water represents purity, happiness, and strength. As a result of that I used google.com as a search engine and found my poem from this link http://www.ahintofseduction.com/poetry/1328.php).

Poem: “Ocean Heal Me”

Ocean heal my wounds
Let your waves curl and foam on my body
Wash away blood, heal scars

Ocean renew me with your power
As unceasingly you roll
Giving strength that's been drained

Ocean keep me warm
Wrap me in your brine
Caress me with your tides

Ocean disperse my tears
As they flow in you
I cleanse my soul

Ocean let me grow in your depths
Color me vibrant blue, coral, green
Clear = revitalized

Cool and refreshed
My spiritual renewal

Ocean be my friend
Hold me flowing in your currents
Ever moving, ever changing

Ocean, heal me.

By: Susan Beacon

Interpretation

This poem seems to be about a trouble woman suffering from losing a love, and she basically asking the ocean which she believed to be her saver for strength, and comfort to help her to be free of being in so much pain. The “line ocean heal my wounds” prove how the guilt and the pain is eating her up alive in the inside because she can’t seem to cope with the lost of losing a love one. The ocean is referred to as God. I can relate to this poem because it reminds me of the time I lost faith God which was the worst time of my life. As a result of losing my faith I couldn’t feel any sense of happiness, I lost my courage and a part of my soul was destroyed.
